I was just curious on your guys opinions on Halter QH's ? Like the really big muscular ones? Cause I know some people LOVE them and some HATE, so i was curious to why. :) Not looking for a debate or arguements just wanting to know your guys views on Halter QH's.
Like these guys? K2Home
Do you think the musculing is too extreme? I'm curious to how they do it as well.
Horses on steroids? o.o
Just kidding. I like big butts and I can not lie.... Love the look of those babies.
Haha :D They do have lots of junk in the trunk ;)
What happen to their buts? Can they even be ridden?
I mean whoaa...never seen such weird horses before.
But I'm a WB person,I've only seen one QH before in my life.
Western ain't that popular here in Belgium...
I like my self a nice WB..
Personally? They are disgusting.
They are not functional for riding. Their legs are not in proportion to their bodies. Their butts look deformed and unusable in any realistic way and like the muscles are "melting" off ( or as I call them, saggy diaper butts).
A majority of those horse have no uses nor can possibly be used for anything other than standing around and looking pretty.
This is a 2011 Filly and shes looks HUGE O_O; Is it natural for them to be that muscular ? Its almost scary
Look gross to me.
I think it's silly to breed a horse, (IE: a working animal that costs so much to maintain) for nothing other than for looks. You can't ride them, and the ones that over muscled have a horrible time with their joints. Those poor little tooth pick legs simply cannot hold a rhino mass like that.
It is unnatural. Period. It falls into that same line of "a lot is good, so more must be better" which is not always the case. These horses that are over-muscled to an extreme, on teeny tiny hooves, and often posty legs and poor conformation are in for a life of discomfort at best, and often severe pain, lameness, etc. And as long as the judges keep pinning it in the show ring, it will get worse instead of better.
My main problem with stock horse halter, is that all functionality has basically been bred out of it. I'm not saying it's impossible to take a halter bred horse and turn it into a performance horse (my friend's got a halter bred mare he shows in western pleasure). But I think the fact that AQHA had to make a separate Performance Halter division speaks volumes to how near impossible it is to be competitive in both at the same time.
What ever happened to form following function? Don't get me wrong, I like chunky horses, but when you take it so far that they can't do much more than stand there, I think you've missed the point.
We watched a couple halter classes at the QH Congress this past fall. The filly who one the weanling class could barely walk. :?
