Ok this is my 13 year old TWH mare Kate, she has been in the pasture a few years, and has been back training for only a month (since I got her). The top 2 are more recent, the bottom 3 are when she 1st got here. The top 2 she was about to get her hoofs trimmed lol.

She's a tad high in the withers & has a sharp slope to her shoulder, but other than that a nice looking mare!
Nice legs, good short back and deep girth.

Will building muscle help any of that or is that bone structure? She is still working on turning some fat into muscle from being stuck to pasture for about 3 years lol. Thanks I <3 her.

I like both the mare and her son. I like how thick there are, and IMO, they both have nice thick legs.

I think they will both look fantastic once you get them into a good work out plan :D

Her shoulder is pretty steep, which is a bone thing, not a muscle thing.

Overall, I think she's a very well put-together mare. Can't wait to see her trimmed up and...not caked in mud. ;-) She's got a good amount of bone in her legs. I don't think her withers are high, I think she's built uphill, so it just LOOKS like they're high.

I really love how thick and boned they are, as I am a heavier rider so it is great lol. I love their gate and personalities also. We are thinking about breeding the Kate and keeping another baby from her, just looking for the perfect match.

shes a Tenn Walker, she's supposed to have high withers

I like their thickness too! There are two at my barn I get to ride, and they are thick, big boned, and honestly if I didnt know any better, I would have thought that they had some draft mixed in, but they dont. :D

Ya the gelding is either gonna have to go 7 in gullet or possibly into draft saddles, I need to measure the saddle we put on him (fits his mom perfect) and go 1 up for him lol. He is so wide, I love her build but I am not a horse expert so lol. She had 4 babies in her lifetime, he was her last 7 years ago. I think she looks pretty good for a 13 yr old horse that's been pastured but we are working with them now :D
