Soo my boy is known for being very hot and quite the jerk but I have found that he loooves kids. So today, I haven't ridden him since last thursday, I had a lesson to do but all the 'lesson' horses were being used for a camp sooo I lunged my boy a little (not to tire him out I do it to get him focused and just as a routine thing) and saddle up and hopped on him. About 10 minutes after I got on him my lesson girl shows up so I grabbed a helmet and popped her up on him.

Well low and behold he was an angel with the little girl pulling on him a couple times on accident (the first horse she rode was very hard mouthed and lazy, complete opposite of my boy) and the wind he surprised me again :]. I stayed by his head the whole time just in case he got goofy but he was completely fine never threw his head and did everything she asked. Next time if I have to use him I will probably use a snaffle or his jr cow horse instead but I'm insanely proud with how he was.

This horse has come so far since the day I started working with him and I am so proud of him and how much we have accomplished. When I met him I never would have thought to put a snaffle on him due to his habit of running away with people and now I can generally canter a barrel pattern on him :]

Oh I was definitely smiling. I have learned that I really need to just trust him because as much as he acts up he has done so much to prove himself and I've learned so much with working him.

What a good boy. It's amazing how they can change when they know they have precious cargo.

Oh definitely he can be a crazy wack-o (was bein a bit goofy for me) but she was backing him up and turning him on his haunches and 'spinning' him around me haha.

horses usually sense when children are on them

caseymyhorserocks 02-11-2012 11:34 PM

Oh thats just to cool!

Yes! I have put a child up on him before actually but that was only for a 10 minute quickie leadline and she just held on. This little girl was on him for half an hour and steering and stoping him all by herself.. well I was by his head but it was pretty much her haha
