Jumping Exercises?

So I can't seem to find any good general jumping exercises!

I'm not looking for anything specific, just something to test me and my skills, and something a little more fun than single fences and bounces. We've got tons of material to work with (hunter poles/standards, jumper poles/standards, flowers, pylons, triple bars) so throw everything at me!

Thanks in advance!

my new favorite exercise is jumping 3 jumps on a half circle. i like to set them 3 short strides [10ft strides] apart. this is because my mare likes to lengthen her stride and really pull towards the jumps. this helps her back off a little. you cant start out with it as poles, and then build the jumps one at a time.

I like the 3 jumps in a half circle too. you should see how long you and your horse can jump, or mabye go xc and jump some logs, barrels. make the jumps interesting, set up like a show with a pattern in which to jump!

I've got a great book called "101 jumping exercises for horse and rider", it's not too expensive and has loads of ideas! :)

I've always seen that book and been too weary to buy it, might go for it now! :D

im currently obsessing over striding games, like set up a 3 1/2 stride and collect for the 4, or stretch for the 3.

set up a dressage pattern(figure-8, serpintine, even a circle) and add jumps to it, really helped my horse listen and made me take dressage more seriously, because if my circle wasnt just right, my jump wasnt.

pole courses, pole courses, pole courses!!! good for days when you dont want to push and jump lots, but can still work with courses.

take away something. saddle/riens/hands/stirrups... so much fun!

theres always gymnastics. always. endless options.

take it cross-country!!! change of scenery, change of jumps(:

have fun, looking foreward to see what everyone else says!

Jumping in a figure 8 is a really goof way to work on those lead changes and its a good way to play with striding. Also doing a 2 stride combo and then do a rollback and take it the other direction. again with leads.

Also taking fences on angles. I know when i did that it threw my horse a loop and by the end of that lesson we were connecting so much better because he had to trust me more over the harder angles

Also jumping for fences in a circle with a fence at each main point of a circle helps bend into the turns a little more

I do 3 jumps in a line and figure-8 through them all. It works on turns and leads and it's really fun. It gets more challenging the closer together he jumps are.

Take a look at this exercise, looks different and a bit of a challenge.

Becci Harrold Eventing - Haynet

She says start with ground poles then move up. Kind of like lovethesaddlebreds idea.
