Who's shedding

I noticed the other when I was out at the barn that my horses have already started shedding. Are your horses starting to shed as well?

And we didn't have much of a winter here so I am concerned about this up coming summer, I think the bugs are going to be horrible!!! :-o

My guy and his friend are shedding :) I think it has been cold so that should help with the bug at lease in NY

Lacey's shedding a bit. I'm so excited. Pulling her hair off is so fun.
However, I'm not really looking forward to being covered in horse hair for weeks... haha

Mine are all starting to shed. I think they may be jumping the gun a bit...we've had such an easy winter this year, we're bound to have some ugly stuff before it's said & done.

Wallaby - you should try my shedding routine...slick & easy block AND shop vac. Loosen it and suck it up as you go along, you end up wearing a lot less and don't have to clean it up afterwards ;)

I think a beter question is who IS NOT shedding. We're constantly breathing horse hair at the barn

WOW--You use a shop vac! Great idea. I gotta try that. Wonder how many cobwebs I need to clean around them before they lose their fear of it...hmmm...

I LOVE my shop vac :) Mine all turn into beggars when I drag it out. Takes a bit of desensitizing with the noise but once they've figured out it feels good, they love it. The only time I had an issue with it was with Woodstock, who's a big nosy butt and I had hung the hose on the stall front long enough to grab an attachment and he grabbed it and ended up with the hose stuck on his tongue.

I found a grooming attachment for it & an old round brush attachment from a regular house vac that fit & both work great too. I love using the brush on it for show prep stuff, gets all the fine loose dirt.

My mare seems to be the only one that's shedding out here, and she's just shedding in overdrive. I'm completely covered in orangey-yellow hairs, as is the ground.

My other guys seem to be holding on to their floof-coats for dear life. xD

I passed the brush through my colts coat and it come up covered in his white hairs...

And I told both of them that they might keep that coat a little longer b/c I am like you MHFoundation I think they're jumping the gun a little.

We'll see - shop vac interesting!!! So you just keep the nozzle there so it will suck up the loose hairs while you brush? And I am definetly going to try those block thingys....

Mudpie started shedding when it was all hot around here... and then the weather decided to be dumb and it snowed so I'm thinking he's not shedding anymore xD
