ACV and hypp horse
I am seriously considering putting ACV in Vega's feed, but i'm worried because she's hypp positive. I have not found any information saying ACV is good or bad for positive horses.
Also, she's getting 1 quart of grain 2x a day, how much ACV should i start her out with? How much should i give her daily?
Thanks so much!
Well, with HYPP, it's a potassium imbalance that tends to set things off the most, and I don't think ACV would be considered an electolyte (Potassium is)...I'm not for sure, I really don't think it would be a problem..I'm sure somebody around here knows more about it than I do. I had a HYPP pos/pos horse years ago..but I never gave him ACV..and they know more about it now.
Can you look up anything on the AQHA site that might mention that..or google the nutritive values of ACV and see what you find. Sorry I'm not much help. :? My guess it that it's safe.
I'll do that and see what I come up with. She's been so good, with the move, new food and everything that i didn't want some silly ACV to ruin it all.
OK, i looked it up. ACV does contain potassium! I think i'll just hold off on it. I rather use fly spray on her than risk her having an attack.
Are there any feed through fly control out there?
