Help my mare? Unusual things happening.
Just a question.
I Have a welsh x riding pony, She is only 6 years old.
I've had her for 2 months and have never noticed this before,
She has large parts to her mussel on the sides? They are quite larger than
usual? I was thinking it may be her teeth lumps but im unsure.
photos are here:
(The photo's aren't so good, but the things im talking about are along
her mouth line towards her eyes)
She also is trembling her mouth a lot/Twitching with her ears down
to the sides looking generally not happy.
Would anyone know why?
I see nothing wrong with your horse. If you are unsure simply google horses head and you will see all horses have that facial structure. If you suspect she has a teeth problem (mouth trembles sometimes)have her checked by your vet in any case just to be sure.
It is very good that you are observing closely how your lady looks!! :)
Welcome to the forum! Your horse is very sweet looking with a wonderful kind eye.
My pony is the exact same when I had the vet check her out he said its completely normal :-)

I don't see anything abnormal about her facial structure - but if the behavior you are seeing is a change it would be worth mentioning to your vet. Unfortunately we can't see the twitching in photos to know if its something normal or not.
Do you know if your girls teeth have ever been looked at? 6 is still pretty young in the grand scheme of things, if she hasn't had regular dental care she could have some impacted caps or hooks that need floated. I don't think her face is abnormal looking, but as mentioned above if she seems unhappy it is worth at least having a vet/equine dentist look at her.
BTW, meant to add that she has a very cute face - looks very sweet (even if it's only a picture of her head).
Looks fine to me but couldnt hurt to have her teeth checked?
That is your horse's facial bone as seen here
