Any Doctors, Vets or Dentists here with Horses?
I just wanted to see if you guys can afford a horse and how much everything costs. Also if you have any kind of 'life' with balancing career, family (if any) and horse/s?
I desperately want a horse when I'm older and I'm considering these three as professions and I need to know if horses are do-able with them.
If you don't mind could you say 'roughly' how much you earn by rounding it? It would help me a lot.
Thanks anyone :-)
But if you're not a vet doctor or dentist and have a horse I'd love to hear from you too!
There are many different levels of horse-ownership. It's a matter of how much you want a horse, & where else in your life that might mean a cutback. Most Am. Dr's could afford a horse, but maybe they prefer another sport. We need a smaller focus of the information you are after to give you a thoughtfulaanswer that will make sense to you.
Hi, Irina, and welcome to the forum! To answer some of your questions, horse ownership can certainly work with the rest of one's life/career/family, but there are also many sacrifices to be made as well. Most find those sacrifices very worth it! Having a horse boarded gives one more freedom to do other things and staff does the hard labor involved. Having your horse at home, means you are completely responsible for their care, feed, shelter, pasture, and lots of other details. It's a huge commitment, but one that gives back immense joy! I hope you get a horse when you're older! :)
I'm a lowly blue collar worker, but my flexible schedule gives me lots of time with my ponehs! But, I also spend a lot of time with a pitchfork in my hand to be able to afford said ponehs. :D
I've boarded with doctors, nurses, lawyers, office workers, bank presidents, janitors, you name it. It takes all types :)
