We feed round baled haylage out in our fields to over 30 horses . We have had some delivered that is very wet ( more like silage) and smells like "sick" ..a smell that you cant get off your hands for days !!!!. we want to return it (100 bales!!) but contractor being difficult and saying nothing wrong with it , but its giving them all the "sqwits" and two are showing laminitic signs ( slim hunters, not fat ponies). Is there a legitimate difference between haylage and silage ( not treated with anything , just cut grass and baled/wrapped, but VERY wet and smelly!) If I ordered Haylage and I can prove this is silage , I may have a case.
Also where can I get a "Toppa-net" from ?? Saw them at YHL , but didnt pick up any info ..they look like a money saving idea !
