Not to long ago someone on here gave me the link to a balance board, it's supposed to help with your balance in the saddle I guess. I went to the link, looked at it and laughed because they wanted like 100 bucks for the board it self, then another 20 bucks shipping!
I asked if my husband could make me one, of course he said yes...
.........So far we have 10 bucks invested in our home made balance board. We got thicker wood, so I think it'll be better than the original, all it needs now is a few girly touches and it'll be set! I'll have to post pics once I get the decals from CafePress.com
$100 bucks?! They can keep it!
Congrats making your own, I wanna see pictures when
your little project is done! :D
I should add that for 10 bucks you can make 3!!! Thats just the wood though, we have piping around here that we'll use.
i wana see the finished product!!!
Wow that's so cool!! & how creative...I also can't wait to see it when it's done!
I've been on holiday in the Lake District this week. As we were packing up to leave, Dad had taken the boom, mast, rudder and dagger board out of our little sailing dinghy, which looks like this:
There was just the hull left on the beach. So I grabbed my kayak paddle and stood in the bows, paddling over the front of the boat. And at one point, I just stood there and threw my weight from one foot to the other, and kept the top half of my body perfectly still, practising absorbing all the motion in my knees and ankles as the boat went from side to side. So a little like a balance board xD
Haha, Moxie, I sent you that! I bought one, but they only had 5 left.... they aren't selling them anymore...
want me to take some pics and/or measurements for your hubby?
the bottom (the part you don't see) is the most important
Hehe MAK, I couldnt remember who sent it to me. At any rate, here is ONE of the boards we were able to make. It's a little dull, but because we were able to make 3, I am going to girl one up.
We used a 2x12x8 cut into 3 pieces, and steel galvanized piping.
My husband on the board:
Wow that looks really neat. :D That's so cool.
It's a lot harder than it looks. When you have the roller on the grass, it stays still. Just trying to keep a good balance in the middle of the roller is hard! I think once I get better at it, I'll be able to move onto a smooth surface.
