Only the good die young
This (thankfully), is not for one of my horses, but rather for a friend's.
Her name was Shannon. She was a beautiful WB mare that my friend bought from a kill auction as a itty bitty foal. Since that auction, the itty bitty foal, blossomed into a beautiful, firey, chestnut mare; with a heart and soul of a champion.
She loved working, and learning. She was brilliant ... and a bit naughty, but the best ones often are. She grew up to a magnificant 16.3hh - she boasted championships, ribbons, and titles a plenty.
Tragedy struck, when this beautiful competitor tore tissue in her leg. Her owner perservered, and treated the mare with everything she could think of.
Shannon was given a year off, and when she was deemed once again usable (which was recently), she was happy as a clam. Until, tragedy took another, unfair swipe at the undeserving pair - and brought them down in one fell swoop.
2 broken legs. Unfixable. Agony for the horse.
.... the only option.
So now, another place is graced with Shannon's mighty spirit. As she takes to the skies of the God's, she has many blessings and well wishes from all her admirers.
My thoughts and prayers go out to my friend, who lost her baby at the young age of 8. Only the good die young.
I figured I should share a picture with those of you who didn't know her, she really was a beauty.
I'm sorry for your friend's loss. :-( Shannon was a beautiful mare.
Ooh she was beautiful... rest in peace shannon :-(
That's very unfortunate =( She was a STUNNING girl.
What a stunning girl :( At least your friend gave her a second chance at the best years of her life.
