Does anyone here like computer games? If so, which ones? What's your favourite platform?
I'm not actually much of a gamer, but I sometimes play. My current favourite is the Half-Life series, I was a bit late to pick up on it as it's a bit old now (even though the final installment was never made and I'm not sure if it ever will be, which would be a shame for such an amazing series). It's a first-person shooter about a theoretical physicist who gets caught up in a failed experiment that opens a gateway to an alien dimension, leading to a series of events that results in an alien invasion of Earth.
I just got Elder Scrolls: Skyrim on an impulse buy. I'm not an impulse buyer but I'm really glad I bought this one. I've never played an Elder Scrolls game before, it's been a lot of fun so far but I'm still near the beginning. It's a single-player non-linear RPG from what I can tell. I chose a female Argonian (lizard-like humanoid), she doesn't look very pretty being a reptile with scales, horns and all but she doesn't care either and she's tough and courageous, doing good deeds for the most part and never stealing.
I also play Minecraft a lot, a block-building sandbox game. In survival mode you collect items from the environment and craft new ones. You go from being empty-handed to building tools, houses, mines and even railways. You can build almost anything you want.
These are pretty mainstream games that most gamers know about already, I'm not much of a gamer so that's the games I tend to hear about. What about you, what type of gamer are you?
I love the Fate games (though I've only played Fate and Fate: Undiscovered Realms). It's closely modeled after Diablo II. Fate (video game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I had it on my old laptop, but then my drivers went out for my keyboard and touchpad and I lost the game because I had given the disks for it to someone I am no longer in contact with.
I've played WoW, but wasn't too impressed with it. My ex-boyfriend was obsessed with it, though, so maybe that was the turn off for me (he could sit for HOURS and play...sorry, but I have better things to do with my time).
That Fate game actually looks like it could be fun.
Yeah I have a friend who plays another one of these MMORPGs (not WoW, something similar but cheaper and nastier) and I don't understand how he can just sit for hours grinding his character up with pretty much nothing else to do. I mean that's about all you do on the game he plays. I guess he goes on to socialise more than anything.
