bits for jumping i have a question, what type of bits do u guys use for jumping. I'm trying to find a bit that is like a Tom Thumb pelham that i can use with a figure 8 bridle. I would change to a different kind of bit but my horse really likes the Tom Thumb, so can anybody give me some ideas. |
well i use what i ride in...loose ring snaffle with rubber bit gaurd thingys....and show in a dee ring snaffle |
I ride in a sweet iron eggbutt snaffle with copper inlays right now. I also have a corkscrew, a whistle bit, a slow twist, and a french link depending... |
It really depends on what your horse needs. My horses were all in loosering snaffles and stayed in that bit when we jumped as well. The only time I changed bits was if I went on a trail ride or hunts. I would change him to a slow twist snaffle. |
It all depends on the horse. I have one mare who goes in a 3 ring elevator with a copper dowl in the middle, or a copper pelham. My other mare goes in a jointed egg but or a slow twist full cheek. |
I kno it depends on the horse i just need to find a bit that is like a tom thumb that can b used with a figure 8 bridle i just cant think of one |
