Is this mini a dwarf? (Pic)
My mother is looking for a mini. Just a pet, not for showing or anything. I guess after reading up on dwarfism in minis I've kinda spooked myself.
This is the one she wants to go look at, but it looks funny to me in the photos sent. I just don't know what "Yearling mini with a ton of hair," looks like V.S "I'm a dwarf." I'm also not sure if it's a bad angle or whatnot.

Any mini people that can help? Worth going to look at or not?

Without seeing the face it's hard to tell. It doesn't look like that mini is stubby or anything. Was (S)he born 2011? My yearling looked like a wolly mammoth last winter! I thought she was a stubby short-legged thing till I shaved her down last spring. My oh My she looked like a racehorse. It's amazing how fuzzy they get and how much it distorts the look of them. A good head shot should help know for sure though.

That particular picture doesn't look dwarfish to me but, as BoldComic said, it is not the best angle/picture to judge by. Our mini filly looked VERY similar through her first winter and clipped down to a real beauty when spring came along.

Sorry, they didn't take any headshots. Are there things I can look for in person? The only thing I can find with regards to the head is 'excessive doming,' but all minis look domed in the forhead to me.

Yep, born 2011. 11 months old this month according to the owner.

It is impossible to tell from this picture. Any mini will look dwarfy with there winter woollies. Plus he needs to be alot older to give an accurate judgement. Minis tend to change ALOT in their conformation as they age. I had some VERY awkward yearlings and even 2 year olds who turned out to be great halter horses when I had my minis.

That said in my opinion from what I can see I don't think it is dwarfy. Looks like there might be a nice face under all that fuzz to!!

Very cute to I miss my little yaks in the winter XD

Difficult to tell from the pic. Often, dwarf Minis have a head too large for their bodies. She doesn't appear so. Her mouth doesn't appear twisted either. She does seem short legged, but with her winter coat, that's not surprising. Her neck seems short, which is something often seen in the breed. She does seem a bit sad and frightened looking though. Maybe not handled a lot?

From what I see in this pic, I don't think I see dwarf characteristics.
