What would I get?
Just curious what would happen if I bred my rose grey paint to a black percheron? The mares mom was a sorrel paint and her dad a grey QH I believe. And please don't reply about the ethics of breeding, I'm not saying I will do it, just curious about the genetics of it. Thanks!
You have a 50/50 chance of getting grey every time. Grey is dominant over everything. If the stallion is homozygous for black, then if your mare has a chestnut recessive, you could get black if neither horse carries the agouti gene. If either one does, then you could get a bay. It also depends on your horses pattern whether you'd get a solid or a pinto as well.
My computer said there was an error and I didn't think this posted so I made a new thread with pics! Please ignore this one!!
