Parents are crazy, their children need horses!
ive been riding for all of my life. started out western, then went to english, and am going back to either one of them. problem is, i really want a horse, but mom says NO and thats the end of it. dad says if we had the room, then we could get one. we dont have the room either, only 1 acre of land. theres always the option of leasing, but the cheapest around here that i have found is around $500. can you help me with my situation?
Well dont feel bad im looking around for my dream horse to, imo, find a good barn, that has good horses, try ot find one to lease, thats what i did, imo again, i would lease a horse before getting one, that way you and your parents can see the fees $$ and the responsibility of keeping one. You may think you know how ot take care of one im not saying you dont, but try joining a new barn, maybe come summer time since you dont have school you can lease a horse, for the summer, if your parents go along with it keep on trying!
-chelsea- Good Luck :D
maybe. i have leased a horse before, and my dad used to live on a horse farm. he knows how it all works.
i couldnt live without mine!!
hey, i feel for you.
when i was 3 i started riding, i'm now 14.
my parents said the only way i can get a horse is if i support the horse my self (everything...tack, initial cost, all the bills...) they'd only help if it was absolutely crutial.
i lease, and have been leasing since i was 6. i try and work out deals with the owners so that i can work off my lease. right now i lease two horses, and get to ride them whenever i want in exchange for 3 days of barn work and paying for farrier bills for one horse. also, through that lease i've worked out to ride for a lady in a neighboring town.
imo, it's all about finding the right deal. i've been in a situation where they've asked $500/month for the lease..and by showing them how dedicated i am, and how trustable i am, they let me work out the lease. you may want to find a place that leases out horses..and start riding there, taking lessons and stuff, and eventually start doing barn chores. then, once they realize you're trustable, a hard worker, dedicated, etc. they may let you work off a lease.
where do you live?
i live in maryland.
i talked to my dad and told him my whole conversation i had with my friend on how things could work out.
they are thinking about it :D
you where working since the age of 6?? hold on let me see if my 8 month old son will do my barn chorse...lol, your parents have done well in teaching about the real cost of a horse, i did the same...was a true barn rat and rode every horse and could get my second hand saddle on, my parents where very well off but refused to spoil me with a horse of my own because they thought i was going through another faze.....now that i'm a parent of 2 kids and live on a horse farm...ok weell there horses are handed to them.
I can't really think of a way to help you, as my parents are being similarly mean!
My mom promised me that if I earned and saved enough money to buy a horse, she'd pay for room and boardd. Well I have the money, but now she is saying, we don't live close enough, blah blah, even though my school bus could take me up every day. Parents are soooo frustrating.
