dry spot under saddle
I rode in the wide tree saddle yesterday with a 1/2" pad. My hubby rode the same horse the night before in a 3/4-7/8" pad. The saddle was dry all where the bars sit, where the middle of the saddle is but in front of where the saddle sits and maybe a little under the front bars and then the very back back of the saddle was sweaty. The saddle does make contact under the entire bars. Is it dry because it is a good fit or because the entire tree is too tight? I did take pictures but haven;t downloaded them yet. Will get to that this evening. Thank you all!

There should be a saddle fitting course....

There is a little bit of bridging going on, ie a little more pressure front and back. This can occur if the horse is moving with his back hollowed. I don't know your skill level so please don't take offense. If there is more sweating behind, ask hubby to move forward an inch or so so he's more centered in the saddle. If the horse is moving strung out, (hollow back) his back will lift if his hind end is brought under him.

It can also mean that you didn't ride long enough or hard enough to get a sweat pattern. I have gotten weird sweat patterns on saddles that I know give a good sweat pattern on the horse if I didn't ride long enough or the weather was cold.
