BC, Canada - big, beautiful, friendly Shire gelding
I keep hemming and hawing over doing this... but if the right home comes around, I know it would be the right thing to do. I've been struggling with some personal issues and as such have not been able to give him the attention he deserves. He is healthy; well fed and kept UTD on everything, but I feel like he's getting neglected only getting out 1-2x/week. I would love to see him go to a home where he'll be used and loved.
"TJ" is a 4 1/2 year old (born end of August) unregistered black sabino Shire gelding, standing at around 16.3hh (give or take a smidgen). This gelding has so much potential - amazing attitude, big lofty movement, friendly and social, eager to please and very polite and gentle to work with on the ground. He has been lightly started w/t - very laid back/steady and accepting, can be a bit stubborn and slow to react due to this (he will do whatever you ask of him if he knows who's boss tho) - but is still very very green so please experienced horse people only!
With training and time to mature, he could become the perfect family/husband horse - everyone who meets him falls in love with his gentle and affectionate nature. Gets along well with everyone - doesn't bat an eye to other strange livestock, doesn't pick fights. Super easy keeper - is on hay only with a vit/min supplement. UTD on everything, ties, leads, loads/hauls, stands for vet/farrier/worming. Has been ground driven some, taken to the beach and in the water, tons of trail and road experience, good in traffic and steady around sudden loud noises/objects/vehicles. For such a young horse, he not easily frightened although when not in consistent work can be a bit more alert - meaning he holds his head up higher and is more forward, which is about the extent of his "flighty-ness". His version of spooking is jolting forward a couple of steps with his head up - very cautious not to run into you, and stops right away, usually very calmly.
TJ comes with all of his current gear, including (optional) his feed and the last 60 or so bales of hay (good quality, green, leafy mix grass bales, 70 to 80lbs). If you are interested, or know of someone who may be, please shoot me a PM and we'll chat. I haven't listed his price as I am not sure what to ask yet, but am very willing to let him go very cheap to the right home. Will ETA with a quote when I figure that out.
I will get some confo shots of him this weekend - all I have right now are old, badly arranged pictures that make him look like a cammel/cow hybrid. I do have a couple of short clips of him stretching his legs - they're low quality and really don't do him justice, but they give you an idea of how he moves. Let me know your email address and I'll send them to you if interested. I will try and get a good video of him being free lunged in the arena sometime this weekend if the weather cooperates.
This is a one in a million horse, and I still think I am absolutely nuts to even think about letting him go, but I know there is someone out there who could give him a better home and really use him to his full potential (more than I'd be able to, at least).
I apologize in advance for this big block of text!

Here is the link to my photobucket - I added the two short clips I have of him from last summer to give some idea of his movement, as well as a couple of pictures from summer '10 to show his conformation - although the pictures are not high quality; bad angles and he never seems to stand square, he has also grown into himself a lot since then. But it gives you a general idea of how he's built. I will get updated pictures of him tomorrow. :-)
If only my trailer was bigger, I wish you the best with selling him. Try advertising him on HCBC. He sounds like a great boy.
Asking 2000OBO. Price negotiable so don't be afraid to shoot me an offer! All reasonable offers considered. Just looking for the right owner. :)
These are not great pictures - taken with an ipad by me, who is hopeless at taking pictures. Better than nothing, though. First pic is from last summer, rest are today.
... don't know why some of them aren't fully downloading... hopefully it's just my computer... :/
I can't see the pictures.
Bah! Thanks for letting me know - I'll try again.
Just loaded them onto my photobucket account instead. The link in my other post should take you to them. :)
