Wintec Isabell vs. Wintec pro dressage?
I currently have the pro dressage and I really like it a lot, but when I got it I only got a 16.5" seat and I'm pretty sure I need a 17.5, I even rode in an 18" dressage saddle(not sure the make or model) and I found that to fit me very well.
The point of this is, I'm thinking about getting a new saddle in a larger seat and selling my current one. When I got this one I really wanted the Isabell, but they were too pricey for my budget, but I've been seeing them on e-bay for more my budget. So should I stick with what I know works, or should I try to snag an Isabell for a decent price?
Anyone know how the 2 differ in fit for both horse and rider?
Also I read that the older versions aren't as good as the new version, does anyone know when they changed the style? I'd like to ask the seller to make sure it's the newer style.
I can't stand older Isabels, I feel like my pelvis is being crushed and I am clamped to the saddle. Maybe good if you're a beginner on a school master, but trying to ride a green horse as an experienced rider, I find that saddle near impossible.
The Wintec Pro's are better, and give me much more freedom to move, though I still get some pain from them, I just don't suit Wintec's terribly well.
I have ridden in a new style Bates Isabel (the leather version of the Wintec) and liked it hugely more than the old style. The new model came in I think at the end of 2010/early 2011. The saddle gives much more room to move, less bulk under the leg, and a shorter tree. Still not one that I'd buy, but I can ride in one without feeling like my pelvis is going to shatter!
If you take one piece of advice from me - don't go and buy an Isabel without first riding in one, and trying it on your horse. They are very different between horses, and some people love them, while others like myself hate them!
Isabells really do seem to be a saddle that either fits you or not at all! I have the older model and love it but friends who have ridden in it have looked horrible!!

Personally haven't ridden in the pro dressage, nor the newer version of the Isabell but I am a owner of the older version (in 18" as I'm a plus size rider). I ride in it every ride and its by far the best saddle I've owned and really helps my needs. I hear a lot from people that the Isabell is too restrictive it PUTS you in place. For me that is what I need as I have a partially damaged leg and my riding has improved ten fold in this particular saddle. I have found my confidence and ability to do more has increased and it has connected my horse and myself a lot more.
It is a very good saddle for dressage needs at least at a basic level. Once again, I've never sat in the newer version so I can't comment on it, personally I find the newer one ugly and way too expensive - I'd prefer to get a Bates or higher quality saddle instead at the price they have the new Isabell advertised at.
