Free Jumping!

Hey guys, remember my four year old mare Janie Belle? She is seriously born-to-jump! :) Oh my goodness, I might be able to jump her in the fair this year but it's going to take alot of practice.
I free jumped her today over a little cross rail and she did amazing! I was just wondering. I've seen alot horses that people jump 2ft under saddle and 4ft free jumping. Why is this? And if that is do you think I could free jump her over a strait jump about 1ft?(I don't want to go 2ft yet.)

Aw that sounds great! She seems like she is coming around very nicely! Alot of people will free jump a horse to see the horses potential/scope. Also some people will only jump a horse 2ft and free lunge them to 4ft because of the riders ability or because of the horse being comfortable over courses at that height.
