First time for everything, right?
Today, I had a first, and it was AMAZING!
Makana and I did our round pen work, pretty standard for a Sunday per our routine, practicing commands, forward and back up, and working on our communication.
We worked it well, and she did magnificently the whole time once she got her yayas out and her head and arse wired back together.
We went back to the pasture, I picked her feet one more time, and turned her loose.
Then, I got a wild hair up my six, put her halter back on,tossed the lead rope over her neck, tied it off through the rope clip, and moseyed her over to the fence so I could hop on her......bareback.
My pucker meter was totally redlined, but I still felt confident this was a good idea.
I hopped on, and we just sat there for a few minutes, getting the feel of each other, and letting each other relax into this wonderful new experience.
I had my honey lead us around a couple times in circles, just to get the feel of this new means of interacting with her....
What a JOY!
How breathtaking!
It was amazing!
I can't wait to do it again!
I love my honey and I love my horse!!!

I think it's always a great weekend to be in AZ!
Its also a huge aspect that my folks drove all the way to visit me from NY, and Mom bore witness to my first bareback riding adventure!
Even at 40, it's still something to show Mom I have hidden talents!
It does, however, bring me to a new appreciation for my wonderful horse, her temerity, discipline, and true wonderful self.
The more time I spend with my horse, the more amazed I become of how truly awe inspiring she truly is.
I aspire to be as great a human being as she does at being a horse.
