Barrel racer to jump?
I'm looking at buying a horse who is an allrounder except for jumping. I was wondering (before I buy. Lovely sound horse, good confirmation etc.) if anyone has trained a barrel racing/rodeo suited horse to jump or any tips to help.

Is the horse already barrel racing or is it just bred to/looks like a barrel racer?
Any horse can jump; That's easy.
However, (And this is coming from a barrel racing trainer) if the horse has been ruined by improper barrel training than it will be hard to get him back to jumping strengths. However if he has been on barrels and done properly it should be easy to make him a jumper.

He has started on barrels. I think he has actually done some cross country as well!

I have a cutting bred quarter horse, as does my friend, and they can both easily jump 4 feet and do barrels. Mine also fox hunts and some of the jumps are well over 3 feet high and we ride for a good 3 hours.
