Meet Seoul - my new mare friend for Honey!

So some of you might have already heard about my issue with my mare Honey who has been suffering from loneliness that escalated after a couple of horses from the property next to ours broke into her paddocks recently. After making a big decision with my family, we went on the look out for a paddock friend. On Sunday I met Seoul (previously known then as Shadow, but for personal reasons we changed the name)... who was every bit as sweet and lovely. Today we picked her up and Honey is just so besotted with her.

I've never met such a chilled out mare before... she was so quiet on the trip to the property I board at, I actually forgot at one point there was a horse on board! Then when we arrived, she placidly walked along beside me to her new paddock and settled instantly - had a roll in the first fifteen minutes of being there! Honey was also easy to greet - they sniffed and no squealing involved, and were grooming quite quickly. I trusted that they had bonded so well that I led them together to my shed - they plodded along like friends of months, not an hour!

Seoul is a 7yr old Standardbred mare and whilst her main task is to be Honey's friend, we will be using her as a farm hack for me and my friend to go plodding together with Honey and let my friend gain some confidence.

Anyway, here is some pictures... Honey is the chestnut, Seoul is the bay/brown (her reg says she's brown, but she looks more dark bay to me)... I couldn't get many of Seoul after her grooming as the weather changed for the worse.

More interested in eating - I've fenced her in a small area so she's not going to need to join Honey in that fatty pen!

Thank you everyone... she's adorable.. though she's VERY affectionate. I forgot what it was like to have a horse that follows you everywhere expecting pats and love - kind of frustrating when trying to muck out the paddock mind you!

I just love that first picture.. Seoul has the cutest little face :P And I love when horses do that sniffy meeting squeal thing haha

I do too. I stood there waiting for it haha. Happened like an hour into knowing each other. Weirdos.
I got a photo of her when I first climbed up on her that I just adore. When I get back from riding I'll make sure to share it :)

As promised, here's some photos of Seoul's first big ride from the other day :)

This speaks of her nature completely - I'm a nervous rider, so riding a horse for the first time is a big deal to me - but we just clicked instantly... I actually had to encourage her more than I had to worry hehe!

Beautiful, even if I am biased haha!

Took her out into my riding area - she eyeballed everything and played with her bit squeaking it but kept going forward, so I was very pleased :)
