chiropractor and accupuncture
The barn where my horse is kept called saying that he seems real sore. The blacksmith that was doing his shoes said his left shoulder and his back is sore and suggested we call in a chiropractor/ accupuncture guy he knows that treats his horses.
What do you guys think? I am not familiar with all of that.
Our horse does shows, my daughter is just a beginner...doing walk, trot, canter and crossrails. Nothing major. But any feedback with suggestions would be great!!
Chiropractors do wonders! Horse or human, but they tend to put a hole in your wallet....
not familiar with acupuncture though... I'm not really a needle fan
Chiropractors are amazing! But before you call one out...make sure they are "certified"...in Texas that means they had to do equine chiropractic training AFTER they got a degree at a veterinary school or human chiropractor school. The good chiropractors are good. The bad chiropractors are a waste of time and money. Get references for what barns they work at.
My horse's chiropractor was a human chiro first...charges $90 an adjustment. but it's worth it...my horse gets it done every 3 months or as needed.
Never tried acupuncture because it is not available in my area, but I've always wanted to try it out.
I agree with hotreddun, my chiro is my horses chiro and he is fantastic!! As for acupuncture, I've had a bad experience where the guy damaged the horses nerve in his rump and took 8 months to heal. (not happy)
Ok, so I had Luke done by the Chiroprator/Accupuncture and the guy was amazing!!! He explained sooo much to us about what he was doing, and what was going on with Luke. For the next couple of days he was still real sore, but I did exercise him by hand walking and stretching him and after 3 days, he was back almost 100%, I would say 100% if I felt comfortable riding him, but I want to hold off on that right now.
But - literally the horse was LAME! He was stumbling out of his stall and now he is walking around and getting frisky - you can tell he is ready to get out on the field and tear it up! :)
YEAH! I am sooo happy!
