What do you think (possible buy)? Hunter/Jumper prospect?
7 year old bay mare, 16.1hh. Im wanting a horse to start hunter/jumper on, take to pony club and ride with the slow group foxhunts.
Let me what you think. She's either got a girth like a tank,or she's obese. But I dont think her back looks roachy, she doesnt seem downhill, and shes got clean legs.
Nice mare. Definitely has a good, deep girth.
Shoulder angle is steep, which sets her neck high and makes it look long.
Beautiful hindquarters and nice legs. Back pasterns look a pit "puffy" but that could just be the picture & shadowing..
Her condition is pretty much ideal. See the faint shadowing of rib? That's how I like my horses. Just the faintest hint of a couple of ribs, and good muscle covering, especially on the hindquarters.
She isn't a jumper, IMO. Downhill build, and I'm not a fan of her hindquarter. That's not to say she can't perform well though - Hickstead was conformationally rubbish for jumping and look what he could do! I'm just saying I wouldn't buy her to jump. We don't have hunter jumper here, but form is important in SJ for functional reasons.
