Overview of Thoroughbred Racing
 

Is anyone here familiar with the racing industry, how owning/investing in a racehorse works, how owners decide when to send a horse to stud, etc? Basically, what would you tell someone who was interested in getting involved with the industry? Or if you know of any websites that give a good overview, that would be great.

I posted a thread a while back about persuasive speech topics, and I ended up choosing the racing industry, proposing an increase in the starting age from 2 to 3. I've got the scientific articles and all that with stats on injuries, wastage, etc, but I would also like at least a basic knowledge of how the industry as a whole functions.

To go over the whole industry would be wasting time and basically I would be writing a massive essay.
