New here and need some suggestions.
I just bought a 2 yr old quarter horse filly. Where she came from they only had mares and we only have geldings. Right now she is seperated but how should I go about introducing her to the geldings? We have a retired (he's 27) tennesse walker, a full blood arab, and a tb. When I first brought my filly home the arab was showing aggression... charging the fence at her anytime she went near it. He's calmed down now though after a couple days. Any ideas how to make them all one herd? I'm worried the big geldings are going to be too rough.
I would try to pull the arab out and let everyone else accept her and then put him back in. If everyone already likes her then he might be more willing to accept her.
^^^ ditto, or put her with that ol' TWH and let them to pal around and then put all of them together...
or, you could put her and the TWH and then add the tb, and then the arabian...
just some suggestions
Mares have a tendency to become the herd leader so don't be surprised that this may happen after a while.
