19yr TB - Diet advice
Hi everyone

I am about to take on a lovely 19yr old TB mare on loan. I have not had a horse of this age before & would like some advice on what would be an ideal feed for her. She is still raring to go so will be doing quite a bit of work but not loads. Ridden approx 3 times a wk plus some schooling. My thoughts are some sort of cool mix with some fibre??

Let me know your thoughts!

what is she currently fed and how is she maintaining weight/muscle on that? if it ain't broke, don't fix it. if she is lacking somewhere, then start there. ;)

pictures are always good too.

She is currently on cool mix & conditioning cubes. For her age she is looking lovely, has kept weight well. I think perhaps keep her on what she is on & then re-evaluate if needed after she is brought back into work as had almost a year off x

that sounds like the best plan to me. :)
