Starting back up, work out routine?

My horses we're recently tested for strangles and it came back positive. My one horse is almost totally healed probably before the end of he weekend she'll be totally healed underneath her jaw. My other horse had an abscess about the size of a half dollar and now its about the size of a nickle in just 3 weeks. I know strangles takes a lot OUT of a horse while they have it. I also know that if worked to hard to fast after strangles they can get a respiratory infection.

They both do barrels and are both loping the pattern. Before I take them out of the pasture to any shows or trail rides with other horses I am getting another nose swab or whatever they'll do to make SURE that my horses are over it and aren't carrying around the bacteria for the strangles anymore.

How should I start there routine back up? There old, before they got sick. Was about 45 minutes and we did lots of trotting and loping circles, walking, rollbacks ect. But I don't want to start off by doing that. So how should I get them back into there routine?

alot of figure 8 long trotting.it builds up their wind and builds up various muscles they don't normally use on a straight-away.
