A horse with one testicle
I know this horse for sale. He is gelded, but he has one testicle in his abdomen. The vets tried to remove it, but he sucked it back in before they were able to remove it.
So my question is, what health risks could this pose in the future? Would he have some stallion qualities if/when mare come into season?
Yes, he can still have some stallion-like qualities. He can also develop a tumor from the retained testicle or end up with the spermatic cord causes problems by getting wrapped around the intestines or other organs. http://www.thehorse.com/ViewArticle.aspx?ID=9649

That's odd that they could not get it. This has happened with two of my horses and when they went in the side they had no issues with either horse.
Possibly if they tried to do the surgery on-site as opposed to in the hospital they might have a problem? I don't know...I guess it would also depend on which type of surgery they were trying. I've asked around quite a bit about the flank entry in my area and vets seem pretty unwilling to do it...they all prefer to go in through the inguinal canal.

Well he's 8 years old and i guess he was gelded when he was young and never had the other one removed. I'm not really sure. But his current owner, when she got him, he mounted a mare and did his deed, so she called a vet and asked, and i guess thats when they realized he only had one testicle.
The tried removing it, but like i said, just as they were going to, he sucked it back inside.
He's not really stalliony or tries to mount any mares (he's in a pasture with 1 mare and 1 gelding, and there have been no babies.

i had a Desiderada Morgan when i was much younger that had that, he was also Proud Cut=what a nightmare, very stallion like, he would even chase down geldings but man what a beauty he was.
The vet said later in life he could have health issue mentioned above.
