Hunter Type?

Just wondering if my boy is Hunter type. I just started a thread in the conformation section but didn't realise there was a section here on hunters!
He is 16.2, and a long, big horse. He is skinny atm, but you should be able to see his type without being 'hack fat'.

It depends what you mean by hunter type. Are you asking if he would be considered competitive in the hunter classes at an h/j show in America? (I see you're from Australia!) If so, he's not the type to be very competitive but if he can get around a course consistently with all of his lead changes he might be ok at the lower levels on a local level. Generally "hunter type" would be something that has a longer lower frame with big stride and very little knee/hock movement. Think very flowy. If you get on youtube and look up International Hunter Derby you can see the ideal. Granted, those are going to be the best of the best. :) So like I said, your horse could probably be ok at the lower levels.

What kind of brand is that on his shoulder??

Id like to see his headset a little lower, i think hunter should look pleasureable to ride and relaxed...do you take him over fences or are you just talking about on the flat?
