Hunter History

I am doing an equestrian based project for my intercollegiate team. The topic I chose was one I had been wondering about:

How did riders make the transition between fox hunting and our modern hunt seat competitions?

While I've found a few barely informative paragraphs across the internet, I was wondering if anyone was either informed on the topic or knew of any good sources.
Thanks!

I'm not entirely sure the exact history but George Morris has been a huge promoter of the sport so I'd look a bit into who he's worked with and what he's done. But before George was Bert DeNemethy (who I believe taught George), who was a huge developer of the sport into what it is today so I'd definitely do some research on him. I'd also look into "American forward riding system". Which I think was the style that hunters today ride that was adapted from fox hunting. Sorry that's kind of vague, but hopefully it gives you a few things to look into!
