alright i need to see if this is just a me issue or if this is common..
do any of you ever have pain in your neck, shoulders, around your shoulder blades, and up against your spine after a long or short ride or sitting at a desk?? the tension is never below the shoulder blades!! and my upper back feels like bricks with no flexibility.
i always blamed the pain and tension on having umhmm... what most would consider a nice set of assets on the chest. however the pain and tension is getting worse.
i also have tried going to a chiro thinking that would help a bit but i didn't like all the cracking sounds and i still was sore after with little relief. i want to try getting a massage.. but most days don't have time to get there and instead find myself with heat patches made for your back like the icey-hot and place them over my upper back everywhere!! it helps relieve the pain for a short period of time while the patches are on but its not helping the real tension deep down.. its really hard to explain the feeling of restrictedness i get.
anyone else have this issue or is it just an individual problem :-|

No you are not the only one with these issues. I find that yoga and upping my exercise off the horse has helped. Also look into a chair that will encourage "active" sitting which helps strengthen your core. I have a fitball chair that I bought and brought into my office and don't have nearly the problems I used to. My trainer has also noticed my posture and position are much better.

Massage would do you a world of good. And it's normal for there to be some tension in your shoulders/upper part of back when you sit as you aren't loosening those muscles by moving around.
Stretching before and after your ride will help with the stiffness as well.
Don't recommend sitting on a ball for extended periods of time.. really works your back and there isn't much other support.
I have a 36" x 6" foam roller that works wonders on my back.
I lay on it length wise for a few minutes, then turn it vertical and roll back and forth on it.
Pop, pop, pop, and instant relief.
thanks guys i will look into all of these... the tension is just getting to much and limiting what i can do.
