HELP!! problems with fake tail "installation"!!
HI! I am new to fake tails and I recently purchased one for my appy. I have NO clue how to put it in and I have a regional show next week. I don't know what kind of tail it is but I can tell you that it doesn't have a loop on it and still has tail bone skin on it from its original owner.(If you know what I mean) Any pointers that you have would be GREATLY appreciated. THANKS!! :D
Where on earth did you get it from, the doggers??!!
It sounds like it needs to be 'processed' to make it into a proper falsie, loop and all. Sorry, I could have helped if it was a normal one, I have no idea how to put one in that doesn't have a loop. :(
does it look like this:
or like this:
I'm calling on member Fanfare here - - I put in switches ages ago...but I can't remember exactly how. :(
Sidenote: I think it's really really gross that they are making these things out of actual hide now. All of the switchmakers I know use a cloth like piece...hmmm.
ETA: try this link: http://www.trot.org/forum/showthread...ht=tail+switch
Thanks for your reply!! My fake tail looks more like the one at the top. You said it was called a switch??
that's what i've always heard it called...different areas call it different things :)
I can't see Kicks pictures. Is it flat and looks like a wrap around? You said no plastic ball on top w/ a loop right?
farmpony, it is one of those that do not have a ball on the top: here's the link to the picture:
My work computer blocks some of the pix for some reason and it doesnt let me see photobucket... I'm deprived. Anyway, I'm assuming it's a wrap maybe? like it's flat on top? If it is, what you do is (you need 2 people) - You wrap it around the tail underneath a layer of natural tail, and if it has a tie you can tie it but it must be untied for show. You braid tiny little braids into it and those are what hold it in place. Those tiny braids go strait down, like you can't pull them towards you as you braid or they'll stick out, you have to braid strait down. It takes about 6 TINY braids to hold it in place. IF that is what the tail looks like... (I usually do like 10 or 12 on my friends tail because I'm terrified it will fall out on her)
