Deer flies

I am going to try garlic with my horses. Anyone have suggestions for deer flies? I live in the NE and we have had a lot of rain. Riding in the woods, is nearly impossible. I put spray on them as well as my cashel riding masks. When they are sweaty, I can't get rid of the deer flies. HELP  Thank you for any suggestions. Misty and Danny's mom

Endure fly spray works really well for deer flies in particular, they seem to hate the stuff--really get your horse wet with it, rub it in with a rag.

Garlic should help! :D I've also found Absorbine to be a great fly spray.
