Sild plates after being on 2 months.

This horse just came home saterday. Could see from her front feet she needed to have the farreir out. So checked her sliders. Was expecting that I would need to order some new plates before I could get the farrier out and wanted to see who loose they where so I would know if I needed to pull them of if they could stay on until I could get new ones put on. This is what I found.

they look like they haven't been on there long, BUT your farrier needs to rasp the nail heads off!!! Those nail heads will be acting like brakes in the stop and could also contribute to soreness in the hocks

It wasn't my ferrier who put the shoes on It was the farrier at the trainers. They've been on there for a little over 2 months.

I don't have a problem with him being left several reasons 1 being does the horses there to be legged up and finished and after about a week of riding the nail heads with have been gone. My farrier is coming today to reset the shoes and trim her and I will most likely have him leave the nail heads as she gets turned out on grass most of the day so they won't last long between being out all day running around and then working everyday. If she was finished and ready to show I would have been filed the nail heads down

aahh.. I get it.. You were thinking the trainer didn't do much with her? It took me a minute, I was thinking, "if the nails not being rasped off didn't bother him, what is the problem?" lol. Am I right about you thinking the trainer didn't do much? Since the shoes look practically like they had just been put on?

question is.... how does she ride?

She's lopeing off better. She is in some what better shape. However for 5 months I was expecting more. Overall when she was riding her she did a good job. I just wish if she was having a problem with something she would of talked to me about it and not of handle it the way she did.
