Fitness Fatness and other issues.....general discussion

This thread is not to be used for an ongoing argument about a specific discipline, *cough* halter *cough* but a more open discussion about what we consider a fit no re hash of other threads please.

OK I will start, I currently own 4 horses, and not one of them is fit,

Fancy has a 3 week old foal at foot, and is definitely on the fluffy side still, so not fit, but well.

Ace I'm still trying to get up to optimum weight, after the winter and feeding her monster foal, she is in good condition, healthy shiny coat, still needing a few pounds, but not at all fit, to soft, no muscle.

G Man is a little on the heavy side and lacking muscle.

Ben is at good weight, looks on great condition but is in no way fit.

I have just realized that I don't have any good recent pics of anyone apart from Ben.

Please post your horses and let me know how you consider their condition

Hennessy is three weeks and two days old, and growing like a monster. He's filling in very nicely with 24/7 turnout and nibbling of some creep feed. (Picture taken at two weeks old)

Bubba is a 16-18 year old rescued Welsh pony. He's a pasture puff on 24/7 turnout with a couple scoops of senior pellets a day. (Picture taken during the winter. He's since shed out and cleaned up really nicely)

Princess is a 7-8 year old rescued QH grade. She's also a pasture puff with 24/7 turnout and three scoops of senior pellets a day. (Picture also taken during the winter, but she never has much of a winter coat. She's still fat)

Sorry if the last two pictures are huge. I tried resizing them but PB is being stupid.

OOOOOOOOOO, I saw fitness, fatness and other issues and thought, hey, I resemble that remark..

Ok so, I uploaded some pics I took yesterday with my phone. After the other, *cough* thread, no way was I going to post. But thanks to Golden Horse I will. Now, this is a TB that I got a year ago. He was really emaciated when I got him, (pictures in my albums, before and after). Last year I just let him gain weight and know he had a good home. Started working with him recently and well, I took a couple of pics to document so I can see progress through the summer. So, here are two from last night. He is 18 yrs old.

This is Rascal. He is a 7 year old pasture puff TWH. He is starting back conditioning on the lunge and long lining. He is NOT fit. He is under muscled, conformationally challenged, and a brat

ETA: I forgot the picture rofl

Meh, no need to post pictures of mine; I know they're all fat and out of shape, just like their owner!

Conformationally though, they're pretty darned correct examples of their breeds.

I feel Walter is decently fit, but needs work still. He is just turned two, but I feel he isn't overweight/underweight. He is developing muscle still.

LOL, no I resemble that first remark...

Conformation, not relevant to this thread, you can be a conformational wreck, well your horse can, but still be fit:lol:

Shammy is the first two photos, she is a arabian/twh 3yr and Moon is the last pic she is a quarter horse 13yr. I don't know if they are fit but they are fabulous.

Well I have Lizzy an 18 or 19 year old Arab. She came into rescue around October 2011 at 350 lbs underweight. I feel that she could use a little more weight on her hips but after being a broodmare for over 10 years straight I'm not holding out much hope for those ribs. I don't think she is fit yet we have a long way to go with the muscle and a few more pounds.

These pictures have all been taken within the last two weeks.
