First Hunter show this weekend!!
Well, this Eventer-trying-out-Hunters' first show is in 2 short days, on Saturday! The barn where we board is the one hosting the show and ALL of their temporary stalls are rented out, so this show is going to be HUGE! I'm excited and nervous at the same time - excited for a new discipline to see what it brings, but nervous because we're so used to consistently placing top 2 in Eventing (schooling shows) or top 3 (recognized) and with a whole new disclipline and a class of 30-some others, I don't see us placing AT ALL this weekend!
And yes, I know it's not about the ribbons, it's about the experience, which I do realize I promise! But to place would certainly affirm for me that I made the right choice for us by switching and trying something else out. I'm glad I at least have a trainer though, who can show me the Hunter ropes and let me know how we did not compared to the other 30, but compared to what we know and what's good for us
Anyway, just had to get this out there to calm my nerves a bit...I know I'm VERY hard on myself and it's hard for me NOT to be competitive, but I am trying to stay focused and remember it's just a schooling show and it's for FUN and learning!!!! WISH US LUCK! I just hope I can walk away from it feeling like we gave it our all and did our best, that's all I can really hope for
Good luck! I'm sure you & Sandie will have a fantastic debut!
it'll be great! please PLEASE post pics for us. :D
Thanks MHF and crimsonsky I most certainly will (if I can bribe one of the horse show moms there to snap some with my iphone haha!!) Otherwise, I'll just have to buy some of the professional ones!
Hey, I'll make a deal with ya--I'll video your round if you video mine ;-) Ron Schwane's a great photographer; I might have to break down and buy some of his pics.
Heck yes! Should work GREAT since we're in different divisions too!!
Good luck to both of you HITS and Equiniphile! Can't wait to hear the stories and see the pictures! :)
Sage, I found a great app on my iphone that lets you zoom in video mode, I'll show you how to use it and you can use that to video my rounds :-) I'd LOVE to be able to get all 3 rounds and my flat class video'd if possible since this is our very first show but if you're busy while flat is going on I understand! We'll try to coordinate it!
I'll bring my video camera and upload the videos to facebook or Youtube for you if you'd like. I'm also bringing my big Canon Rebel that we can use.
Super pumped for this. Excel got a good workout and a bath and is now stuck in a freshly made bed with sheets, a sleezy, tail bag, and leg wraps....I hope he doesn't decide to take out his revenge on me in the ring . Btw, Tessa's not going to show Annie :-(. She's been great lately, so she doesn't want to push it. What time are you planning on being there?
Well friends not too bad for a first day! :-) It was definitely a long and hot one but we ended up with a third place two fifth places and a sixth :-)
The only class we didn't place in was one of our over fences and we knocked a pole so I didn't really expect to. I was especially proud of her for getting third place out of eight in our under saddle class!
I'm glad we now have our first hunter show out of the way and looking forward to the next one next month!!
