Estimate Foal's Adult Height?
We had a new foal on Monday. Just curious if at this point there is a good way to measure to get an idea of his adult height-any methods you have used that have proved very accurate? If so, please explain how to measure or the formula you use. Thanks!
Don't have a clue, but I think we would all love to see pictures of him :D
We usually do string testing.
Take a smeasuring tape and measure from the middle of the knee to the coronet band. It is pretty darn accurate. You can check it on your mature horses and will see that it is usually very close to their height in hands. So 14 inches would be 14 hands, etc.
I'll have to try that!
That would be a measuring tape...not a smeasuring tape! LOL wow gotta love typos :-D
Except when it makes the difference in my foot being able to reach the stirrup
Gonna try this today...IF I can get him to hold still long enough!
