When is too early?
When is it too early to haul to a jackpot?

What do you mean exactly?

IMO, its never too early. Its always good to let them see the sights, all the different noises, and all the craziness. Even if you only exhibition them, you're still desensitizing them to all that is at a jackpot.

Training wise, ability wise.

This is such a vague post....

Here, I'll restate my question;

When (training & ability wise) is it a right time to start hauling to jackpots & doing a few runs?

I'm talking about when you wouldn't be running within the 15-18sec range but still going anyways.

When your horse has been conditioned and is consistent on the pattern...

Hauling to places in general is great, even if they are tying them to the trailer and standing. We haul ours and exhibition them when they are started trotting, just to get them out and about more. Just because you haul places doesn't mean you have to run.

So start hauling lol, the more exposure BEFORE you start running the better. Because then they are comfortable and in the environment and focus on what they are their to do and not the scary barrels or people standing on the fence :)

Even if you could, go to a jackpot or whatever and make a fool of yourself and lope the pattern nice and easy, find a $12 jackpot or a fun day, the experience in the long run is worth it
