Ok so I know that white spots can come from pressure like ill fitting saddles cutting off blood flow to the outer layer of skin where the hair grows and not allowing pigment to reach to hair, but there are white spots (dime sized ish) appearing on my mares neck and near the top of her tail. There are only three but they seemed to have appeared out of no where.
Whats causing this??
Possibly bird catcher spots. Can you take a picture and post it?
My TB mare has these. They've multiplied with age. We've always called them birdcatcher spots. They're just in random places - neck, barrel, rear. I thought it was particular to TB's, tho?
Any breed can have them, they are not limited to TBs.
so what exactly are bird catcher spots then?
Bird Catcher Spots
-Cause is unknown
-Small spots of white on the body about size of pearls to the size of a dollar coin
-Thought to have something to do with sabino pinto
-Also named after a Thoroughbred who carried the spots
-Found in Thoroughbreds and Akhal-Tekes
My QH, Oatsy has three bird spots :p
Like I said, any breed can get them. They are no limited to TB or TB crosses.
My originally grey horse has BECOME one big birdcatcher spot! ROFLMAO
