I'm just getting back into riding after 3 months because of a fall and really bad concussion. So I still have some nerves when riding. I love any tips and pointers.

I'll put some more pictures up soon

You've got a bit of a chair seat, but other than that you look pretty good :)

So I should be trying to move my leg back a bit?

Yes. Make sure that there's always a straight line from your head to your hip to your heel. :)

Open your chest up a bit by rolling your shoulders back and bringing your elbows to your side. This will give them a nice bend and line from bit to elbow and allow you to actually make contact with your horse's mouth but still have give and take.

Close your hands and hold them as if you were carrying two birds. Currently you're banging their heads together and they cant talk (I know weird, but that's how my coach always explained it and it just stuck). In other words, watch the piano hands.

OP I have a few questions.

How do you feel about sitting back? Does it feel like you're going to fall off or be left behind? Does your leg feel good or does it feel like it's preventing you from sitting on your seat bones in a forward seat?

Sometimes I find in hard to find the right seat. When I sit back I feel like my hands aren't far enough forward and when I move my leg back I feel like I'm leaning too far forward.. does that answer what you're asking?

Thanks! That's definetly something I need to work on. I have problems with my shoulders all the time. Even not when riding. :)

By opening up your chest you may find it easier to break your forward seat habit as well. It's all connected.

If you have the time/money, ballet is a great way to improve your posture and body control.
