Looking for a bit
I am looking for a short shanked mullen mouth or low port curb bit. I cant seem to find any. Has anyone seen one of these anywhere on line that I could order? A friend has one that I tried on my appy and he seems to be very responsive and happy with it, unfortunately she wont consider selling or loaning it so i am trying to find one of my own. He was being ridden in a mullen mouth driving bit when I got him because the previous owner couldn't find one of these bits either. I talked to the lady i bought him from and also his previous owner before her and both said he doesnt like snaffles so I havent bothered to try him with one. Right now I am using a kimberwick on him but thats a loaner as well and if i have a choice I will buy a western type bit over the kimberwick because i ride western.
Well, I am not sure where to find the bit you are talking about but I love Myler bits. They are expensive but my mare hates snaffles to the point of being dangerous so she has a level 1 comfort snaffle like the one below. They come in level 1,2 or 3. I am sure you can find a different brand with the same concept for cheaper.

Try KO Trading, they have almost 1500 bits, they most likely will have a short shanked mullen.

I never agreed with bits for horses and tried to use them as little as possible. HOwever, I know little about the correct bridle to use so any tips, info and handy hints would be hugely appreciated.

thanks for all the replies I found the exact bit on one of the websites provided. I am thrilled!!! I can get it either with a sweet iron or copper mouth......which do you think horses prefer??
Personally, I really like a sweet iron with copper inlays. That way, you get the best of both worlds, but if it's one or the other, I would probably choose the sweet iron.
