HI I am ordering a few things for my trail ride adventure next month and I ordered nice insulated saddle bags but I would like either a pommel bag or a horn bag to hold little things like horse treats and my camera. What is the difference in a horn bag and a pommel bag? Which do you think would be more efficient?
I thought a pommel bag was like a saddle bag (two sides) but smaller for the front. And a horn bag hooked on the horn and was single sided. Interested to find out exactly how they differ from someone that knows for sure.
I do believe that they are one in the same. English and Western saddles both have a pommel that is in the front part of the saddle. The only real difference in saddle bags would be between pommel and cantle bags, pommel attaching to the front of the saddle and cantle attaching to the back.
Pommel/ Horn bags come in all sorts of sizes and are really very nice because they are easy to reach while you're riding.
Heres mine came with a bunch of saddles I bid on once in an estates auction in Utah.Has matching rear bags but no name markings anywhere.
BTW:Nash saddle(Alabama)
