Heel Down My heel is mainly always down! However, its when jumping about a meter that my weight goes to my toes... suggestions? |
Constantly be thinking about having your heels down. Think of as though there's a string around yor ankle being pulled down |
do you have any pictures ? im guessing that something else in your body is changing that makes your heel go up. |

If this doesnt make sense let me know, and i will try to do a better job of explainig it! Sorry in advance if it doesnt. :/ |
I had this problem, as soon as I did something of a certain difficulty, my heel went up. I then took off my stirrups, and did the whole exercise stirrup less, focusing on having a long, solid leg, keeping it as if I wanted my legs to touch the ground. However, I did keep my heels up, whilst elongating my leg, and I help this helped GREATLY when I rode with stirrups again. It also greatly improved my position! |
It may just be the height that changes your position. I know it does for me. Because your horse puts in more effort to get over. Also make sure you aren't gripping with your knees :)) |
pictures would be most helpful to truly see what is going on. honestly if you are jumping 1m and your horse is putting in an average effort i dont think the jump is so high and the horses effort so great that the heels naturally come up, there is probably something else going on with your position but near impossible to say what without pictures! :) |
^^agreed !! |
