I have 5 bay colts that need new homes. They are a month and a half old. 3 fillys and 2 stud colts. the people sold the mares and left the babies. 1 paint, 1bay and 3 sorrels. The asking price is 50 each or all 5 for 200 for them all. Please call 254-xxx-xxxx. phone calls only please
Oh gosh. That would be awful. I just can't stand to see something like that. On such little babies no less. The paint looked so scared. They have a long emotional journey ahead of them as well as their physical needs.
People do this with kittens. I volunteer with a cat rescue and they'll drop off a litter of kittens and claim they don't know where the mother is. *sigh*
A year ago someone bred those mares & now they were sent to slaughter. Just think of what those poor mares are going through. The babies would have gone too if they had been big enough.
Disgusting.

I take it you called and asked if they were going to slaughter or is that a uneducated guess? Why does everything come to slaughter, that is how people make it look bad.
I doubt they are all exactly that old. They probably just used the age of one for all since they look about the same size. Obviously if they were all that exact age they would have had to have been born on the same day.
I going to call and talk this person about them. Posted via Mobile Device
Yeah. By the tone of her voice this is not a rare thing to happen. I didn't ask much more, but told her I would appreciate if she did let me know if this situation happened again.
On one hand I feel like I'm enabling this situation. In another, I can't bear to think of some of the places those babies might end up.
I spoke with this lady earlier today. The mares went to slaughter. I think I may know her as she lives in the county I used to live in. She is a horse trader and most likely went to the sale and was given these colts when their mommas were bought and bound to slaughter. I go to some sales around here and they do give the colts away if they are small.
I cant see the picture what color were they? If this happens alot could they have all been sorrel? It could have been a back yard color breeder that wants to keep there sire at 100% color.
They had a paint, bay, and three sorrels per their ad. I hope whoever bought them is aware of how much work/money these guys need until they reach an appropriate weaning age and are aware of their needs vs. someone who bought them because they were babies and doesn't know anything about horses.
I feel sorry for the mares too. They were bred, gave birth, enjoyed their babies for a short time then were ripped from them & sent on a one way trip to hell.
But no one speaks for them.
I couldn't agree with you more, Natisha. You make an excellent point...the fear and sadness those mares carried until their untimely and likely horrific end is unimaginable. Human beings can be immensely cruel and lacking in all empathy. There aren't words for "people" like that...one can only hope SOMETHING will occur to wake them up from their pathetic ways, but I don't think it's likely.
Thank you for your comment. It needed to be said, and now has been heard and hopefully considered, by all. Sadly, those of us on HF already "get" this. Too bad it isn't able to be heard by those who REALLY HAVE NO HEARTS, (and their minds are highly in question) as well.
