i want to put my horse in a bubble
I want to put my horse in a plastic bubble! He is always getting beat up by jax the grey horse. He has sooo many scrapes on his body. I found 2 new ones yesterday. one on the outside of his front leg and one on his jaw bone. So i put some of the liquid medicene on those. I dont have any goop stuff to put on.
does anybody here have a horse thats always getting beat up on and how do you handle it?
my horse cant get moved to another field because he was moved to this paddock to be with jax. Ive added a picture of paddock my horse is in.
My horse comes in with bites and kicks all the time. There isn't really anything you can do about it, unless you want to start putting cheap blankets on your horse do that he isn't the one taking the damage

I keep threatening to bubble wrap Hunter. His last escape produced 14 scrapes, chunks of skin missing, he looks horrible. He is now in a Houdini proof paddock (I hope)
He wasin the field but I pulled him out he was looking like such a ragamuffin.
Only way you can prevent those wounds, is to separate those squabbling horses. Otherwise, buy a roll of bubble wrap.
My horse always gets beat up as he changes pasture/paddock. It lasts for a few months as they decide on the pecking order of things and then he's completely fine.
For him, working on ground work and establishing OUR relationship has helped him to deal with pasture bullies and become more outgoing and playful in a nice way (he can be a real jerk sometimes to his herd mates.)
But that's just what works for us, not sure if it will be a universal thing but thought I would contribute.
It looks like quite a small for 2 squabbling horses.
My two are best buds never more then 5m apart but I think they'd struggle there.
The only thing that really helps is of course seperating them BUT, the paddock you show in the pic is pretty small for 2 horses, so there is not a lot of space for the horses to escape from each other....
In the picture... on the right side of the fence theres a gate that you cant see...its left open to another paddock. So sometimes my horse and the grey are apart and sometimes they are together.
I like when the gate is open b/c they can have there *alone time* if they want.
when the middle gate is closed...then i dont like it.
well thats how it started...with the gate closed and horses on either side. It was like that for a few months. Then the gate was open and the horses got together.
So sometimes the gate is open for the both of them to move around and somethings the gate is closed and they have there own field. OR the gate is closed and they are BOTH in the same field. It all depends on the BO's plan for them.
