Has anyone here every took in and rehabilitated any animals? Rehabbing animals is a huge passion of mine and i hope to do it full time some day, or working with exotics in a zoo. i have a Rehabber friend that let me take in a baby squirrel once. he was doing fabulous, but took a bad turn for the worse, i have some pictures of him. the rehabber knew i had a lactacting cat that has just had kittens, and she suggested letting him feed off of her if she would let him as well as syringe feeding him. so here are some of those pictures.
these are in order, from when we first got him to right before he passed. notice how he grew more fur on his tail :)
and some more.
here is a Kangaroo from a local animal park. i bottle Fed him a year earlier when he was a WEE baby, and he remembered me!! he hopped right up to give me kisses.
ignore my ******ed face..
and of course some videos of some of the exotics my uncle has, please ignore some of the dumb music, my mom thought it would be nicer to cover up our conversations. lol
here is a video of my mom holding one of the Kinkajous, she's silly :)
George, and one of the Macaques they have sold. just to put this out there, Mindy the Terrier is the BEST with animals. she never hurts them, and is super gentle.
and georgie when he was a baby
little Marmaset Monkeys
and thats al lthe videos i have for now. i need to take some more. lol
I always thought it was funny that cats will accept a squirrel instead of seeing it as the rodent it is and killing it! lol.
I've raised squirrels .. they are really fun!
i wish we could have raised him all the way up! he would have been tons of fun :) and my cat is tolerant of anything, including mice and rats which i have raised as pets. lol she's just so loving to most other animals.
My grandpa took in a fawn. He called it into our local conservation officers after finding it dumped in a field - same place three days later. The conservation officers explained they couldn't help but they would give him a special permit to bottle feed it and send it back out to the wild. We named her Faline (off of Bambi teheh) and she saw my Grandpa as her "mom". She would only accept the bottle from him. She was never babied though, and soon enough when she was old enough she just wandered off. She was such a dear (pun intended) and such a sweetheart!
awwww! does your grandpa happen to have any photos? i had a friend that rehabilitated a fawn but i never got to meet it! it must have been a wonderful experience :)
My mother does - I will get her to scan them and send them to me (unless I can find any on my own pc). I was very young! I loved that little fawn!
Right now i have a fawn her mom got killed. A baby lost her mom - and a mom lost her baby --- both very sad - but a little less sad now...
