Need some job advice asap please

So, my current job gave me 6 hrs last week and they said it wouldn't happen again. Well....that week I had nothing to do so I went out and got me a new job; a better job. The pay is 2 dollars better with a promise of decent hours. I notified my current job and told them I will be restricting my hours because I found another job. So this week they give me the most hours I've ever had which also (I found out today) interferes with my new job. I have to call my old job and tell them I can't come in ALL WEEK. How would I do this in a professional manner? Mind you, I have put in schedule availability forms to both jobs, but it was a little too late at my old job and the schedule had been made. Any thought/ideas would be appreciated. I'm going to call them tonight and let them know after I get back from the barn.

Anyone delivering that kind of news cannot hope for a good ending. I couldn't come in one day and was made to quit or be fired. That's not something you want to happen. I hope you aren't as unlucky as I :/

If you can't work an entire week and didn't put in for it, then you need to talk to your manager :/ especially if you communicated your new schedule.

Wish you the best of luck.....

Sounds almost like your old employer has gone out to make things difficult. The stubborn cow in me would tell them that the hours don't suit due to the job you have previously made them aware of. Chances are if you tell the other place you can't do it so quickly they will tell you not to bother at all and the old job will then cut you right back down again. Best of luck with it though!

can you work any of the hours your old job scheduled or none at all ?

the new job pays more and has decent hours, why do you even need the old job ? stop stringing them along and let them hire someone else. The professional thing to do would have been to give them notice,,, AS in You only gave me 6 hours, so I found another position. Thank you for the opportunity and skills I gained here but I have decided to accept another position.

Give me your other job!!!!! :O Sorry, it's because I'm looking and I can't find one! :( I agree with Joe. Keep the new one, leave the old.

I wanted to stay with this old company and work for them in the mornings for some extra pocket cash. I'm not stringing them along, I notified my boss the day I found out I got the job. I then gave them my new availability, but the schedule was made a few hours prior. I called last night and talked to someone under my boss who said that that might be too many absences and I will have to talk to the big guy in charge to see if that will require them to let me go. I feel horrible that it happened out this way, but it was out of my control.
