A baby lost her mom - and a mom lost her baby
My older doe letting bell nurse. I was very upset when 2 days ago she had a little black doe kid when I was out and my buck pawed her death. She was an amazing show doe in her time and now an amazing brood doe. I couldn't ask for better. A baby lost her mom - and a mom lost her baby --- both very sad - but a little less sad now...

Have you confirmed that keeping deer in captivity is legal in your area? Make sure you don't get the baby too used to humans, as I assume you're planning on releasing her when the time comes.

Omg what a little munchkin!!
I'm glad they're able to help each other out. Tragic when there is such a loss :/

Just a thought, if he pulls through and is released later, put a collar on him. Hopefully you can find something that can break away, but find something preferably in hunter orange. If not that color, something you won't mistake as part of the deer...red...hot pink...whatever. Not all, but many hunters won't shoot a deer with a collar. It's more or less code for "this deer is tame" and they will let it pass.
